Micallef Out To Secure Series Crown
Author :

Winchelsea domiciled racer Phil Micallef will look to wrap up the 2009/10 Parr Motorsports Super Six Series championship with a consistent final round presented by Atkins Autoworks at Horsham’s Blue Ribbon Raceway.

Although a mathematical possibility, it is highly unlikely that Micallef will fall from the top of the series standings, as he currently holds a 161 point advantage over second placed Luke Weel. The maximum points any driver can gain from one round is 244, meaning if Micallef can finish Saturday’s A-Main inside the top 10, series victory is secure.

Third placed Bradley Warren is 73 points further adrift of Weel, however the battle is well and truly on for positions three through to seven. Just 69 points separate five drivers heading into the decider. Jye Saunders, Andy Caruana, Mark Walsh and Andy Hibbert are all in the mix, while Gary Bell and Steve Hodder also currently sit inside the top 10.

Mount Gambier’s Adam Sealey will cross the border to compete with some of the best Victoria has to offer, with a host of former Junior Sedan racers including Sam Wren, James Gardiner and Mick Rigby all keen to put their best foot forward at Horsham.

The Meade boys – Damien and Lee are both currently on the brink of the top 10 in series points following some consistent performances and will be joined in this weekend’s field by Dan Dubois and Robbie Paton, who have both ran limited schedules to date.

Timboon’s Ray Klemm is set to compete on the open spaces of Blue Ribbon Raceway, joining a field which also includes first year racers Ashley Hawkins, Steve Munzel, Gary McCallum and Greg Atkins.

All cars must be in the pits by 4pm, with racing to get underway at 5.30pm.
